1. Preheat the oven to 160C/320F/Gas 2
  2. Slice the potatoes into thin slices, lay the potatoes in an oven proof dish. Add the crushed garlic, salt and pepper and pour over the cream
  3. Place the potatoes in the oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the potatoes are completely tender. If the cream looks like it's splitting, your oven is too hot, so turn it down a bit
  4. Sprinkle the steak with salt and pepper
  5. Sear in a hot pan for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking
  6. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing diagonally and serving with the potatoes
